Fishing Report

April 12, 2019

The lake is completely covered in ice. We are seeing a few people out ice fishing. With the rains we had last week the snow on the ice is very wet. Be prepared to encounter slush on top of the ice. We have seen a few nice fish caught. It is looking lik ethe ice could stay on the lake until mid May or even longer.

The thaw has happened faster than we all expected. The lake is now about 90% ice free. We have seen some nice fish taken this weekend. Most taken on worm, some on power bait. Have not seen any trolling yet. Our plan is to start putting docks in the water Sunday May 5, 2019.

The midge hatch is about over for this season. Durring the hatch trolling was the ticket to success. Now that the midge hatch is on the decline bait fishing is starting to pick up. Don't forget Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2 is free fishing weekend. No license needed to fish Oregon waters. Also this saturday is our kids free fishing derby. Free prizes, food and drinks for the kids.

The fishing at Diamond Lake has been good to excellant for the first two weeks in July. With limits or near limits on the diamond lake Charter Boat. The best baits have been salmon - peach and rainbow powerbait. Use with a slip weight, swivel and two to two and a half foot leader. Finish this with a size 16 treble hook and just enough bait to make the hook float off the bottom. The west side of the lake is producing well with fish in the 12 to 14 inch size range.

Fishing remains good at Diamond lake. Limits of 12 to 14 inch rainbows are being caught daily. Most of the fishing is being done on the West side of the lake in 20 to 30 feet of water. Assorted varieties of powerbait seem to be the preferred method of fishing right now.
